Hello, how can we help you?

Change attendance method

LiteLog offers several ways to record attendance. In this article, you will learn which methods are available, where to configure them, and how to choose useful combinations for your facility.

Available Attendance Methods

LiteLog currently supports three attendance tracking methods. Detailed information about each method can be found in the following articles:

Each facility can decide which method to use — and adjust this at any time if needed.

Where do I configure the attendance method?

The attendance method is defined per object. This allows each object to use exactly the method that best fits its workflow.

You can find the setting as follows:

  1. Open the corresponding object in the dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the “Attendance” tab.

  3. Scroll down and click “Settings.”

  4. In the “Control” section, you can separately select the desired method for:

    • Start of attendance

    • Stop of attendance

  5. Save the changes afterward.

Note on QR and NFC methods

QR Code:
If you want to use the QR method, download the QR code after saving and print it out so it can be placed visibly at the object.

NFC Tag / NFC Chip:
If you want to use an NFC tag, assign it to the corresponding object in the app under “Checkpoints.”

Important: A fixed NFC terminal can always be used in addition — regardless of which start/stop method you select for the object. People with smartphones can use the app, while those without smartphones can use the terminal.

Useful Combinations of Attendance Methods

1. Terminal for residents – App for staff

Residents: Check-in/check-out via the terminal at the entrance.
Staff: Start & stop via finger tap in the app.
→ Ideal for residential homes, clubs, or facilities with people who do not have smartphones.

2. Terminal at the building entrance – QR/NFC inside the building

Start: Terminal at the entrance.
Stop / other actions: QR/NFC scan at objects inside the building.
→ Suitable for large facilities, workshops, schools, or care institutions.

3. QR/NFC scan for objects – Finger tap for flexible ending

Start: QR/NFC scan directly at the object.
Stop: Finger tap in the app.
→ Ideal for many objects or frequently changing work locations (e.g., security, cleaning).

4. Finger tap for flexible start – Terminal for fixed stop

Start: Finger tap in the app (e.g., starting in home office or on the go).
Stop: Terminal at exit or another central point.
→ Useful for enforcing a reliable end-of-shift check.

5. Scan as the main method – Terminal as an addition

Staff: Attendance via QR/NFC scan.
People without smartphones: Use of the terminal with NFC chip.
→ Practical for mixed groups at events, clubs, or workshops.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use multiple methods at the same time?
Yes. You can combine multiple methods. For example, staff can record attendance via QR/NFC scan, while other individuals use a fixed terminal.

Do I need to set the method separately for each object?
Yes. This allows different areas to have different workflows.
However, in many cases you can use the option “Save for all objects” when saving to apply the configuration across all objects.

Can I switch back to a previous method later?
Yes. The attendance method can be changed at any time. Existing attendance data is retained — only future entries will use the new settings.
