Guide for Teachers & Instructors

This guide is intended for teachers, professors, seminar leaders, and course instructors who work with LiteLog on a daily basis. It is organized by typical tasks throughout the day.

1. Before the First Class Day

Before using LiteLog in class for the first time:

  1. Check access — Log in to the portal at portal.litelog.de. Your administration has set up an account for you.
  2. View your courses — Under "Attendance list" or "Course log" (in the portal: Shift log), your courses should be visible. If not, contact your administration.
  3. Know the kiosk location — Do you know where the tablet is in your room? Is it turned on?
  4. Optional: Install the LiteLog app — For the mobile view on your own smartphone.

2. Start of Day

Before class begins:

  1. Check the kiosk — Is the tablet turned on? Is it showing the correct course?
  2. Open the live list — In the portal or in the app, open the Attendance list (Live). Filter by your location and room (in the portal: property and kiosk).

Navigation: Attendance list (Live) → Select location → Select kiosk (room)

3. During the Course

  • The attendance list shows in real time who has checked in.
  • Late check-ins appear automatically — the timestamp is documented.
  • You do not need to confirm or approve anything. The tracking runs automatically.
  • If automatic ending is enabled, participants do not need to check out — attendance is automatically ended when the course finishes. A separate check-out is not required.

4. After the Course

  1. Review the course log — In the portal under Course log (Shift log), you can see how many participants checked in and whether the minimum requirement was met.
  2. Record missing entries — If participants could not check in (no smartphone, dead battery, etc.), you can register them directly in the portal — even during the ongoing course. Open the participant overview of the current course and register the participant manually.

Navigation: Course log → Select course → Register participant

Permission required

Manual registration requires the Create time entry permission. If this function is not available, contact your administration.

5. Special Cases in Daily Use

SituationWhat to do
Participant has no smartphoneRegister directly in the participant overview of the current course manually — in the portal or in the app — even during the course
Dead battery / defective cameraRegister directly in the participant overview of the current course manually — in the portal or in the app
Kiosk tablet has failedRegister participants in the participant overview of the current course manually — in the portal or in the app — or inform the administration
Wrong room shown on kioskInform the administration — the course must be assigned to the correct kiosk
Course is cancelledInform the administration so the course can be paused for this date
Room changeInform the administration — have the course assigned to the new kiosk (room)
Late check-inParticipants can still check in after the course has started, as long as the check-in window is open. The timestamp is documented.
No Wi-Fi / mobile dataThe kiosk with a dynamic QR code requires an internet connection. Alternatively, a static QR code can be downloaded and printed — it does not rotate but works without internet. You can also register participants via the participant overview of the current course manually — in the portal or in the app.

6. Export Data

For records, billing, or your own documentation, you can export attendance data:

  1. Open the Course log (Shift log) or Data & Reports
  2. Filter by time period, location, and course
  3. Export as CSV or PDF
Regular Export

Establish a fixed export schedule — e.g., weekly or at the end of the month. This way you always have up-to-date records.

What happens if participants arrive late? Check-in is possible within the configured check-in window. The exact timestamp is documented.

Can I check attendance on my smartphone? Yes. The LiteLog app provides an overview of your courses and current attendance.

What do I do if there are technical problems? Open the participant overview of the current course and register the participants manually — in the portal or in the app, even during the ongoing course. For larger problems, inform your administration or IT support.
