Mobile Time Tracking

Directly on the dashboard of the mobile app, you start, pause, and stop your work time — via the status module at the top or the quick actions (scan). The detailed time tracking view opens from there. Depending on the area's configuration, different check-in methods are available.

:::info In the App This feature is exclusively available in the mobile app. In the web portal, you manage work times through the Work Time page. :::

:::tip Concrete scan scenarios Starting work time via QR, button, or NFC, pause/resume by scan, behavior when scanning in the wrong property: QR & NFC Use Cases. :::

Features at a Glance

Timer View

After starting the time tracking, the app displays a live timer that counts the running work time in real time. You see:

  • Running Work Time — Current duration since check-in
  • Break Time — Total break time so far
  • Status — Current state (Working, Paused)

The timer continues to run in the background when you leave the app or lock the device.

Check-in Methods

Depending on the property configuration, you can check in and check out using different methods:

MethodDescription
Button ClickManual check-in/check-out via a button in the app
QR Code (static)Scan a printed QR code at the location
Kiosk (dynamic QR)Scan the rotating QR code on a kiosk screen
NFC TagContactless scanning of an NFC tag via smartphone
Automatic by zoneAutomatic check-in when entering a time tracking zone with automatic check-in — no scan, no dialog, just a short confirmation (toast)

Methods that are not enabled are not offered in the app. The available methods are configured by the administrator per property — separately for check-in and check-out. The "Automatic by zone" method is enabled by the system itself as soon as the property has a time tracking zone with "Automatic check-in on entry" active.

:::note Beacon suggestion If you are near a beacon, the app can suggest checking in — you always confirm the suggestion yourself and can temporarily mute it. :::

:::note Automation only with the app active Automatic check-in and check-out exists exclusively via time tracking zones — and only while the LiteLog app is actively running in the foreground with the property selected. If you enter a zone with "Automatic check-in on entry" or stay put inside it, your work time starts by itself. In the background or with the screen off, no location tracking and no automatic check-in or check-out takes place. :::

:::tip Note The check-in and check-out methods can be configured separately. For example, check-in may require a QR code while check-out is allowed via button. :::

Start Work Time

Tap the Start button to begin your work time. Depending on the configured method:

  • Time tracking starts directly (button click)
  • A scanner opens for QR code or NFC tag

After a successful start, the app shows the live timer.

:::note Time tracking required If "Require time tracking" is enabled on the property, the dashboard shows the "Time tracking required" banner with the "Clock in" button as long as no shift is running. Before editing tasks, routes, incident reports, or forms, the app then first prompts you to check in — a reminder, not a block. :::

Pause & Resume

During an active work time, you can pause and resume:

  • Pause — Pauses the work time tracking. Break time is counted separately.
  • Resume — Resumes the work time tracking after a break.

Stop Work Time

Tap the Stop button to end your work time. The app shows a summary with work time, break time, and total time.

:::note Auto-Close Your administrator can configure work times to be automatically ended — either after a certain duration or at a fixed time. In this case, your work time will be closed by the system even if you do not tap the stop button. See Auto-Close for details. :::

Check-in Mode

If your property uses check-in mode instead of the standard work time view, you see a simplified interface:

  • Only check-in and check-out buttons (no timer, no breaks)
  • Active status with animation when checked in
  • Optimized for pure attendance tracking without work time tracking

Double Login Detection

If you are already logged in at another property and try to check in again, the app shows a notification. You can choose to:

  • End the existing work time and start at the new property
  • Cancel the action

Restricted Time Windows

If the administrator has configured time windows during which check-in is not possible, the app shows a corresponding message. You can only check in again once the time window has expired.

Location Recording

With every check-in, check-out, and break, your GPS location is automatically recorded. Depending on the configuration, the system checks whether you are on-site (ONSITE) or off-site (OFFSITE).

Exceptions with Reason

If the administrator has allowed exceptions, you can also check in using a method that is not enabled. In this case, you must provide a reason, which is saved in the log.

Offline Capability

Time tracking also works without an internet connection:

  • Work times are stored locally in the app
  • When the connection is restored, data is automatically synchronized
  • The timer continues to run offline

Permissions

:::info Permission To use time tracking, you need the View time tracking permission. To start and stop, you need the Create time tracking permission. Contact your administrator if you do not have access. :::
