Time Tracking (Property)
On this tab, you configure time tracking for the selected property. You manage work shift presets, define check-in/check-out methods, and set up kiosk devices for on-site tracking.
Navigation: Master Data → Properties → select a property → panel entry "Time Tracking" (group "Modules")
What Is This View For?
This tab is the central place to define HOW time tracking works at this property — display mode in the app, how people check in/out (button, QR, NFC, kiosk), automatic breaks, automatic ending, and blocked time windows. It answers:
- Should employees check in on site via QR code/NFC or with a button press?
- How should breaks be deducted automatically?
- When are forgotten open work times ended automatically?
You analyze the recorded work times under Work Times — this tab only handles the configuration per property.
Page Layout
The surface shows the shift preset table at the top (labeled with your shift alias, e.g. "Arbeitsschicht") with Create, View, and filters. Below it, the Configuration section (with a hint whether it matches other properties) holds the accordions Check-in / Check-out Method and Advanced Rules (force time tracking, blocked periods, automatic ending, breaks) plus the toggle "Time tracking — visible to users in the app". The Kiosks accordion appears only when the kiosk method is active, Services only with the services feature enabled. Confirm changes via the save bar at the bottom.
Enable Time Tracking
Use the activation card to switch time tracking for this property on or off. When enabled, the module is visible to employees in the app. As long as the feature is disabled, no work times can be recorded for this property.
Preset (Shift Presets)
The preset table (alias label, e.g. "Arbeitsschicht") shows all configured shift templates for this property. Each preset defines shift times, repetition rules, and the check-in window. Click a preset to edit it, or create a new one. The create menu additionally offers "Import" — a CSV import for many presets at once. "View in shift planner" jumps into the shift planner's calendar view; a calendar preview shows this property's rounds and shifts right here in the tab.
"Configuration" Accordion
View Type
Choose which view the mobile app shows at this property:

Enforce Time Tracking
When this option is active, the app reminds employees to start time tracking when working at this property. It is a reminder, not a hard block — actions in the app are not blocked.
Automatic Ending (Auto-Close)
Define when open work times are automatically ended by the system:

| Calculation basis | With "After duration", choose the basis: gross (from the start time) or net (only effective work time, breaks are not counted) |
Automatically ended work times receive the system note: "Automatically stopped by the system (maximum shift duration reached)." The system checks open entries up to 4 days back.
There is also the option "End automatically on next check-in": if the same person checks in at another property, the still-open work time at this property is ended automatically — intended for tours where employees work through several properties in a row.
Blocked Time Windows
Define up to five time windows in which no check-in is possible. Employees see a message in the app that time tracking is currently blocked and can only check in again after the time window has passed.
Automatic Breaks
Automatic breaks are configured as tiered rules:
- Uniform — the same tiers for all weekdays
- Manual — individual tiers per weekday (Monday to Sunday)
Per rule you define a presence duration threshold and the corresponding break duration: from the configured presence duration onward, the specified minimum break applies. If an employee ends a work time with less break than required, the break time is automatically raised to the minimum value.
The maximum break duration is configurable (default: 720 minutes / 12 hours). If the maximum break duration is exceeded, the break is automatically ended by the system.
Geofence: Warning When Leaving the Property Area
The convenience switch "Geofence: warning when leaving the property area" enables leave monitoring for the drawn property area without you having to create a dedicated zone: if a checked-in employee leaves the premises during their shift, a zone event is created and the employee is warned. The sub-switch Automatic check-out additionally ends the running work time once the leave is confirmed (default: off). How the evaluation works — including buffer and delay — is described under Geofence Zones.
"Time Tracking Zones" Section
Below the configuration, the "Time tracking zones" section lists the property's time tracking zones with their enabled behaviors. Clicking a zone opens the full-screen map editor, where you draw the zone and maintain its settings (auto check-in, leave warning, auto check-out). Restricted zones, in contrast, are managed under Property → Settings → "Restricted zones". All details on both zone kinds are described under Geofence Zones.
"Check-in / Check-out Method" Accordion
Here you define how employees check in and out. The basic choice is made via radio buttons:
- Button press — manual check-in/check-out in the app, without on-site binding
- QR / NFC — on-site methods; here static QR code, NFC tag, and kiosk can be combined
The app method (button press) and the on-site methods cannot be mixed — the system removes incompatible methods automatically. The automatically enabled method "Automatic by zone" (see below) is exempt from this rule: it can exist alongside either basic choice. Check-out is configured separately from check-in; check-in and check-out can allow different methods.
In addition, the method "Automatic by zone" can appear in the method list. It cannot be selected manually: LiteLog enables it on the property automatically as soon as at least one time tracking zone with "Automatic check-in on entry" active exists, and removes it again once the last such zone is deleted or its automatic check-in is disabled. The method works in addition to the configured methods — including in combination with QR, NFC, or kiosk — and marks check-ins and check-outs created automatically by zone in the log.
Proof / Verification
In the Proof section, you choose how the on-site proof is checked at check-in and check-out (the choice applies to both together):

Regardless of the chosen verification:
- The GPS location is recorded at every check-in, check-out, and status change
- The system compares the coordinates with the property's location and marks entries as ONSITE (on site) or OFFSITE (outside)
- In the web portal, administrators see the location history on a map in the detail view of a work time
- The number of offsite entries is highlighted in the timeline
Beacon Range
If the property uses Bluetooth beacons for time tracking, set the threshold distance here — the maximum distance to the beacon in meters up to which a check-in or check-out counts as "in range" (default: 3 m).
- The value is the default for all beacons of this property — e.g. a larger range in a hall, a smaller one in an office.
- When binding a beacon in the LiteLog app, an individual radius can be chosen per beacon; it takes precedence over the property default.
- Your organization's shared Eddystone namespace is managed centrally under Settings → Beacons.
Allow Exceptions
Enable the "Allow exceptions" option separately for check-in and/or check-out. When enabled, employees can also check in with a method that is not enabled — but they must then enter a mandatory reason, which is stored in the log.
NFC Scanner Device
Additionally, you can enable a fixed NFC scanner device paired via Bluetooth at the property. A public link is available for the scanner device, which opens the scanner screen without signing in.
"Kiosks" Accordion
This accordion only appears when the kiosk method is active. Create, edit, and delete kiosk devices for on-site time tracking here. Each kiosk displays a dynamic QR code that employees can use to check in and out. Per kiosk you configure:
- Name and status (active/archived)
- the assigned shift presets (without an assignment, the kiosk shows all active shifts of the property)
- an individual welcome text and the display language
- the auto-refresh of the QR code (seconds) and the auto-switch threshold (hours) for the schedule
Via the list actions, you open the kiosk screen directly or copy the kiosk link to set it up on a permanently mounted device (e.g. a tablet at the entrance).
"Services" Accordion
Maintain the property catalog of services that employees can select during time tracking. The accordion is only visible when the services feature is enabled for your organization.
Saving
The bar at the bottom offers two actions:
- Save — applies the settings to this property.
- Save for all properties — after a confirmation dialog, applies the time tracking settings to all properties, overwriting their existing configuration.
Good to Know
:::tip Note
- The app method "Button press" and the on-site methods (QR code, NFC, kiosk) cannot be combined — the system removes incompatible methods automatically.
- Check-in and check-out methods are configured separately. For example, you can allow check-in via QR code and check-out via button.
- If you don't assign any presets to a kiosk, all active shifts of the property are shown automatically.
- Break rules can be set individually per weekday — ideal for different shift models.
- With location proof enabled, administrators can view the GPS history of every work time on a map. :::
